Enea Sambinello (UAE Team Emirates Gen‑Z) won the 2026 edition of the International Arrábida Trophy this Sunday. The young Italian was the strongest on the final ascent to Sesimbra Castle, pulling clear from the reduced group that attacked on the last classified climb of the day.
Daan Dijkman confirmed the dominance of UAE Team Emirates Gen‑Z by finishing second, six seconds behind his teammate. Tiago Antunes (Efapel Cycling) completed the podium, nine seconds back, becoming the best‑placed Portuguese rider in the race.
The 153.9‑kilometre route started at Largo de São João in Palmela at noon and featured a calm opening phase, with few breakaway attempts in the early kilometres. The first major moves came around kilometre 20, when Afonso Lopes (Feira dos Sofás–Boavista), Daniel Dias (Tavfer–Ovos Matinados–Mortágua) and Iván Belmonte (Cortizo) broke clear of the peloton.
They were later joined by Rui Silva (Porminho Sub‑23), Rúben Rodrigues (Feira dos Sofás–Boavista), Mikel Uncilla (Caja Rural–Alea) and Niels Tenniglo (Earth Consulters/Maia/Frutas Monte Cristo), forming a seven‑man leading group that gained more than four minutes on the bunch. The peloton gradually reduced the gap as the race approached the main climb of the day.

On the run‑in to the Serra da Arrábida KOM, the breakaway was caught, although Mikel Uncilla managed to hold on until the summit to take maximum points.
The decisive selection, however, happened on the final classified climb of the day, when Daan Dijkman and Enea Sambinello (UAE Team Emirates Gen‑Z), German Tivani (Aviludo–Louletano–Loulé), Adrian Bustamante (GI Group Holding–Simoldes–UDO), Tiago Antunes (Efapel Cycling) and Afonso Silva (Team Tavira/Crédito Agrícola) attacked from the peloton.
The group was then reduced after a crash involving Bustamante and Afonso Silva, and the winner would emerge from the remaining leaders. Sambinello proved to be the strongest, followed by teammate Dijkman, with Antunes securing third place.
In the remaining classifications, Mikel Uncilla (Caja Rural–Alea) won the mountains classification after being part of the long breakaway, while Sambinello also claimed the young riders’ classification. UAE Team Emirates Gen‑Z, who had already won in Arrábida in 2025 with Luca Giaimi, also took the team classification.
